Splitting a merged document

If pages were merged that did not belong together, or one is missing, you no longer have to delete and upload again: the document can be split, and no page is lost.

List › the merged-document marker › Split document

Where it is

In two places:

Step 1: find the document

In the list, merged documents carry a marker saying how many pages they are made of.

No marker means that document is not merged and there is nothing to split.

Step 2: press it and confirm

Pressing it brings up a Split document notice explaining what is about to happen. Confirm it.

Step 3: look at the list

The pages come back as separate documents, each with its own row. From there you can merge them properly by hand.

That is the full cycle: split, reorder or complete, merge again.

The thing to watch: the totals

The main document keeps the totals and taxes it had when it was merged: they are not worked out again. If you split in order to rebuild the merge, go over the totals at the end.

It is the only real consequence of the operation, and the one that catches people out: the structure comes apart, but the figures that were already worked out stay where they were.

Questions people ask

QuestionAnswer
Does splitting lose anything? No. The pages are all still there, nothing is deleted. What comes apart is the merge.
Can I split and merge the same pages again? Yes, as many times as you need.
Does merging again cost me anything? No. You pay when the pages are processed, not when they are grouped.
